Every day, you have less and less energy but more aches and pains.
As we get older, our hormones start to go haywire 𧬠(hello peri-menopause a.k.a. ‘2nd puberty’), we’re tired all the time π΄, we have trouble falling and staying asleep ππ½, and are under constant stress.
It can feel like a struggle to get in shape, even though we can’t remember what we ate if we’re even lucky enough to actually sit down to enjoy a real meal π½.
We take care of everyone and everything else–our children, households, careers, businesses, partners, aging parents, and other family obligations.
At the end of the day, we have nothing in tank left for us, and when we hear ‘self-care‘ we shudder because it sounds like a luxury we can’t afford.
The good news is it doesn’t have to be that way.
We don’t have to continue to put ourselves, our health, and our well-being on the back burner.
Making the time to take care of our bodies, our minds, and work towards our personal goals isn’t selfish.
It’s NECESSARY that we show up for ourselves if we want to keep showing up for others.
In fact, when I officially joined the 35 and over crew, I was determined to get in the best shape of my life.
I tried everything from Zumba classes to fad diets to ‘quick fix’ programs that just left me frustrated, with less money and no results πΈ
It was after being a vegetarian for decades and still experiencing negative health effects from consuming dairy products (not gonna lie, I was a cheese addict π§), that I finally decided to intentionally follow a fully plant-based diet and embraced the vegan lifestyle π₯¦.
In fact, after I made this determination I was able to get the leanest I’d ever been in my life at age 40. In 3 months, I shed that stubborn 10 lbs. of body fat, was finally able to see my abs, and added sculpted, curvy muscle to my physique.
After that, I trained for my first bodybuilding competition and won π 1st place in the Women’s Figure Master’s 40+ division as a natural athlete (that means no steroids π).
If you’re thinking that you have no choice but to gain weight, get flabby, and lose muscle over a certain age, I’m here to tell you that’s not true π«.
It is possible to be your leanest, fittest, most energetic self if you follow the right approach and have the support to get there π―.
